The word cyber crime is not only in Bangladesh, it also very familiar and scary word in every country. Whether it is known or not, its victims are millions of people every day. Cyber crime is not a new kind of crime in the world. Common crimes like information theft, information distortion, fraud, blackmail, money laundering etc are in the general language as a cyber crime. In other languages, cyber crime is mainly used on computers and criminals use the network to crime worldwide. The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is divided Cyber Crime into four main categories - Insiders, Hackers, Virus Writers and Criminal Groups.
Different types of Cyber Crime:
Spamming or Junk Mail: This is a great way to cheat and it is fully based on the email. Using fake ID / Email addresses, they want to access your address, credit or debit card number and even the phone number. Most of the spam messages come in the mail Spam folder.
Pornography: Porn sites are the most dangerous thing. Several sites are affected with harmful computer viruses. Those sites show popup ads and sometimes required email address. Those ads can cause to affect virus on your computer.
Drug Business: The drug trade cycle is active on the Internet. They produce databases including drug purchase prices, distribution system etc on their website and shows to world wide people.
Hacking: Hacker can spread virus on your computer and can theft your important data. They can hack E-Commerce website database and theft credit card details. It's called Carding. Black hat Hacking is a serious crime.
Torture of women in Cyber Crime: Many girls are victimized by cyber crime in our country. The girls of the country including actresses have been involved in pornography due to cyber crime unknowingly. A number of abusive crimes have also been committed to posting rape videos and sex scenes on social media. Recently these works are getting much more. Other types of cyber crime include showing pornography, opening fake account with pictures, threatening on emails etc.
Every year hundreds of billion dollars of economic losses are committed by these crimes worldwide. International organizations publish annual surveys of economic losses per year due to cyber crime worldwide. According to Computer Economics survey in 2006 about 13.3 billion dollars was damaged due to viral related damage.
